A beautiful way to commemorate your faithful companion

This handsome guy is my latest project. It was a donated portrait for Midwestern University's Bright Lights Shining Stars ball and fundraiser for scholarships. Life has really gotten in the way of me finishing it, but I'm just about there.
New Year's resolution...work consistently & persistently on my art!
Clark is my daughter's 9 year old Queensland Heeler. He has such a beautiful coat, I had to try this on black. Maybe next time, I won't scribble in the background! He has an incredibly expressive face, I've only capture a bit of it. He's a character and keeps us laughing
I took up drawing and sketching again when my kids started college...I guess my creative energy had to go somewhere!
I sketch whatever comes to me, but my favorite subject are dogs, especially those that have passed on and have been truly loved. When I lost my wonderful doggie friend of 15 years, I sought some way to commemorate her. Funny enough, I haven't been able to do justice to her image, but don't have any problem drawing other dogs.
I use colored pencils as my medium. I like the control, the depth attained by the layers and there is minimal mess!
I hope you enjoy your time here. If you'd like to discuss commemorating your own best friend, send me an email and let's get started!
